6 Techniques on Anger Management

Anger !Statistics show that most people have problem controlling their anger. It is important to control anger because when a person is angry, he/she is more prone to take wrong decisions. This can have an adverse effect on that person’s life.

If you too are facing the same issue and wish to get more control over your anger, then the first step is acceptance of your problem.

Once you accept that you have a problem controlling the anger, next step is to try out anger management methods. There are many anger management techniques that can help you to be more calm and relaxed instead of getting hyper excited and angry.  Here are the best 6 techniques to bring your anger under control:

1. Relaxation through breathing

If you observe, whenever you are angry you breathe in haste. Sometimes you even run out of your breath. So the key to controlling your anger is controlling your breath. I would suggest that whenever you are angry, simply observe your breath. Initially it will not be easy; but with practice, it will become your habit.

You’ll experience that once you start observing your breath when you are angry, you will automatically get calm down and relax. You may face some resistance in the beginning, but with practice it will become easy. Gradually over a period of time, you’ll be able to have a better control over your anger.

2. Meditation

One of the reasons why meditation is highly recommended is because of its benefits to help you control anxiety and reaction. Anger is mostly the result of uncontrolled reaction. Meditation will help you to deal with the root cause of anger. It will help you to relax your muscles which in turn will help you to be more calm and composed. As you get advanced in the practice of meditation, not only your anger will be controlled, but your over all life will be improved.

3. Focussing on solutions

Anger is generally erupted when your mind is caught up thinking about the problem because of the adverse situation. It’s because you get affected by the problem and you find yourself helpless to deal with that problem; it results in frustration and anger. It would require a paradigm shift in your approach towards the situation to control your anger. Rather than getting affected by the problem, you need to start thinking about the solution. But before that you need to have a strong belief that feasible solution exists for your problem; it’s only a matter of trying something out to solve your problem. You simply need to relax, have some patience and consistently make efforts to get out of the situation. Once you adopt this attitude and approach, you’ll find that you’ll be able to deal with problems much easily without getting vexed and frustrated.

4. Listening to music

Music has a deep soothing effect on our minds. Whenever you are feeling angry, turn on your favourite music. This will change your mood and help you stay positive. In some time your anger will be mitigated and you’ll be in a better position to deal with the situation.

5. Being in the company of positive people

Sometimes anger has a connection with the company of the people that you keep. You may have people who would be constantly instigating you or troubling you. Out of helplessness you may start venting out your anger. But if you have good friends and understanding companions, you’ll be psychologically relaxed. You’ll have the faith that there are people to help you when things go wrong. That’s why it is essential to build up such good relations.

6. Laugh at the situation

It is said that ’laughter is the best medicine’. When you are angry, simply try to laugh aloud before reacting. In few moments you’ll find tremendous change in
your psychology. The stress in your nerves would be gone and you would be more calm and relaxed.

By way of following the above anger management techniques, you’ll be able to experience phenomenal change in your life. Once your anger gets in control, you’ll start living a positive and happy life.  There will be fewer problems in your life. You’ll be able to enjoy better relationship with people. You’ll be more productive and thus more successful in your life!
